Janesville, WI – Joanne H. Marquis, age 71, died Sunday evening, March 10, 2013 at Agrace HospiceCare in Madison, WI. She was born December 29,1941 in Oak Park, IL to G. Adeline (Hill) and George W. Marquis Sr. She attended elementary school in McCallsburg, IA, Nevada, IA, Joliet, IL and Lockport, IL, attended junior high school in Joliet, IL and attended Joliet Township High School, Joliet, IL and Freeport High School (class of 1961) Freeport, IL. Joanne had previously worked at Osco Drug, Microswitch, GC Electronics, Burgess Battery and APCO. Joanne moved from Brodhead, WI to Janesville, WI in 1983.
Joanne is survived by her two sons, Jesse J. Marquis of Hartland, WI and Brian A. Marquis of Janesville, WI, her mother, Adeline Fincham of Story City, IA, one brother, George (Judy) Marquis of East Peoria, IL, one sister, Adrienne Houdeshell of Rockford, IL, two aunts, Helen Zook of Story City, IA and Marcella Hill of McCallsburg, IA, one step-brother, Bruce Biggs of Marengo, IL, four nephews, Jeff, Paul, Mike and Charlie, two great-nephews, two great-nieces, one great-great nephew, several cousins and her beloved cat, Boo-Boo. Joanne was preceded in death by her father, George W. Marquis Sr., maternal grandparents, Albert and Minnie (Hegerland) Hill, paternal grandparents, Henry and Anna (Pisvejc) Marquis, two step-fathers, Jameson H. Biggs and Owen D. Fincham, great-grandfather, Mikkel Hegerland, brother-in-law, Richard R. Houdeshell, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Joanne will be remembered for her humor and love and compassion for animals, especially cats.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Agrace HospiceCare for the compassionate care they gave to Joanne. Memorials in Joanne’s name can be made to Agrace HospiceCare or the Rock County (WI) Humane Society.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg, IA. Pastor Tom Poppe of the McCallsburg Presbyterian Church, MaCallsburg, IA will officiate. The Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, Janesville, WI and the Fredregill Funeral Home, Zearing, IA are assisting the family.
